In my last post, I gave a bit of a clue to some exciting news.

As you may know, I started longarm quilting nearly 20 years ago (in 2003). I have always done all my work as a hand-guided quilter. In fact, I still really love hand-guided custom work.

I took a break from quilting and had to sell my beloved machine when I went through some pretty major life changes a few years ago. Last year, I decided I really missed quilting and was in a good position to have a longarm again.

My A1 quilting machine - BEFORE

I used to be a dealer for A1 Quilting Machines and I absolutely loved the machine. I was really lucky that one of my former purchasers was ready to retire and her machine was for sale. Even better was that she lived relatively close to me (about 200km) now that I had moved to the far south coast of NSW. I bought her machine in a heartbeat.

DURING - lots of bits everywhere

Now. Technology has come a long way, even in the longarm quilting world. An upgrade for the stitch regulator was available, so I definitely ordered that. Along with the new regulator, I ordered an Intelliquilter. This is the computer that drives the machine to stitch out certain patterns on the quilt.

AFTER - enhanced with new tech

I knew that I still enjoyed custom work, and I am good at it. Luckily I could get an Intelliquilter that just did edge-to-edge designs. I really love the new modern designs that have sprung up, especially those that require precision, such as the baptist fan design on the screen in the photo above.

This whole upgrade can offer me the best of everything, a robust machine that I love and is easy to move, better stitch precision, and wonderful edge-to-edge quilting designs for enhancing quilts

If you are thinking of having your quilt quilted by me, please get in touch. I’d be happy to chat with you about what I can offer. There is still time for me to have your quilt done by the end of the year.
